I did manage to give a talk at TEDxKRP about Changing Mindsets for Sustainable Disaster Recovery
This" Tohoku - Road to the future show" displays photos taken 1 week after the tsunami and 1 year, to showcase the recovery done.
It is successful from the efforts of the government, NGOs, the volunteers on the ground and supporters who made the difference.
We previously shared sustainable tips to restart local economies of disaster areas and is in the midst of starting Markets of Hope, an initiative to help boost the local economies of disaster areas by allowing the survivors earn a living by making handicrafts sell the handicrafts online (and in shows and exhibitions)
We have brought along products from the shelters in Japan, made by survivors and will help promote these products as a sustainable way of disaster relief, changing mindsets and the current model from "donor-receipient" to "conscious buyer - generator of wealth" We believe for true recovery to work, the opportunities should return, and the economy should he built to the level before the disaster.
We have garnered quite a bit of interest and support in Singapore after the event.
Thank you for your support and the event would not be successful without our fantastic volunteers and supporters.
Thank you very much
